Hey everyone! I just got my account back after many months of it not working. My dad messed up my account and i couldnt log back in. I got some updates on the car,but youre all going to be pissed Haha. If you look at one my recent threads, i did something dumb to the motor. ANd now its pulled and the car is in the back yard waiting to have its new heart put in. I have engine details in my other thread!

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

well im to a point where im 99 percent sure im going to sell. The reason being that we took it to the machine shop and after it was checked over to see what was needed, the shop said 1200 dollars to do it. Im not going to list off what it needs because im not in the mood right now. I love my car to death, it means everything to me..But after thinking. The car has 8 grand into it and ive had it for 3 years. Ive only put 8000 miles on it and its only been functional for 6 months out of those years.Ive had this 500 dollar Marquis with 300,000 miles for 4 months, have put NO money into it,and have driven 6 thousand. So my assumption: thirdgens are all, And i mean this in the most thoughtful way, pieces of ****. I feel theres not much need to look for another motor. After thats in, then its the tranny, the rear end(Broken gear) all new tires, a new master cylinder, a new heater core, The list goes forever. SO im to a screw off point. Im 18 years old and make 120 on a paycheck. Screw this AWESOME FAST CAR SPORTS CAR YEAH thing. Sorry guys.

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

You think you got it bad! I've had my Formula for 9 months and I haven't driven it once! I have all of a sudden have a knock, the tranny acts like it doesn't want to shift, all my suspension is original and needs replaced, etc. I also have put more miles on my daily 1999 Regal GS than all my thirdgens. You'll regret selling it believe me, I thought I was ready to sell one of my show cars and now I 100% regret it everyday.

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

Good luck getting any money for the car. Our cars are extremely undervalued as is, not having an engine in it isn't gunna help your cause at all. You've put a ton of work into it. Just keep the thing. You'll regret selling it. Especially for no money. It's an old car. Stuff is gunna go wrong. It's to be expected.

Trust me and keep the car, you have already put too much into it. Even if it has to sit for a little while, mine had been sitting for two and a half years and I am getting ready to pull it completely apart, and build my dream car out of my first car. Besides it is a great time to learn how to build an engine.

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

Im currently on my 3rd trans am and im 23. Both my last 2 that I have sold I have regretted. Just keep it like everyone else says. Even if you have to cover it up for a year or 2 in the back yard until you can make some more money and continue building it again.

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

Thanks guys. I guess this day i was just overly depressed.Lately i just feel so upset each day. Its my senior year and im not walking and my mom is so upset its unreal. I feel like i let everyone down. And im thinking "well At least i can fix the Trans Am up and have some fun over summer!" nope. I feel so helpless. Im going to the doctor for an anti anxiety med i used to be on. I just have no motivation, Im always depressed. Just dumb stuff. Anyways enough of this WEB MD crap haha.

I traded my LO5 to my dad ( which my parents are still together so we live in the same house) For a new amplifier for my Marquis. Im now saving up have my paycheck to hopefully just buy a 350 i can throw in. Im not very into the fact of building up some powerful motor. I just wanna throw something in. Maybe just port the heads and throw in my cam. Im debating whether to go carbed or not as well still. Oh well, itll all come in time. Until then ill keep you guys updated on anything that happens. My parents just bought a 95 saturn SL with 60,000 miles. The 1.9 liter. it looks like a mini Trans AM in a way to me haha. Ill post some pics of them together and my marquis. You know what, that marquis may have 291,xxx miles but it still hauls some you know what, I threw on a Cobra emblem as well and that added about 60 horse

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

Hang in there big guy. I bought an 88 TA when I was in high school(17 yrs old) and loved the crap out of it. Fast forward some years(24 yrs old) and my dad sold it while I was in boot camp. Im 32 now and just getting back into the 3rd Gen game. Hold on to your car man even if you have to wait. It will be worth it in the end.

Re: 88 Trans Am body work/Paint project

Hey bud, on a non-related Third-Gen note, sounds like you had some rough anxiety issues and I totally can get how that can affect you're thinking. My doctor said try not to make serious decisions when you are "down" or under intense pressure. I say keep the car, but more importantly take care of yourself! Senior year pressure, car pressure, parental pressure... it's a lot to take on. So don't beat yourself up, you're doing the best you can! BTW that car is gorgeous! Most people can't do a job like that and they are twice your age!
