Seats from TA Creations

I'm going to be taking a drive down to TA Creations this weekend to hopefully pick up some new seats. Just had a quick question.

Does anyone know what the main difference is between 93-96 firebird seats and 97-99 firebird seats? There is a decent price difference and just want to be prepared for what I am looking at.

Thanks

Carl

Well, I know that the earlier 4th gen Firebird/TA seats had plastic on the back and sides of the seat. I'm not 100% sure on the years but I believe this was from 93-97 and the leather versions where a dark GREY. The newer seats do not have this plastic on the back (98-01)and are available in BLACK leather.

I just bought a set of 00 TA black leather seats...NICE!

My buddy has a 94 TA with cloth and these are also very nice and comfortable.

Good luck,
Mike

That acutally should have been one of my questions above. Does the comfort vary greatly between the two different styles.

Thanks again,

Carl

I've got black leather with plastic on the backs. Power lumbar and power side bolsters. Most comfortable and supportive seats I've had in any vehicle.

When comparing the comfort of the earlier Firebird/TA seats to the newer (no plastic back & sides) it is exactly the same. These seats fit like a glove. I swear, they feel like they are form fitted! MUCH better than any thirdgen seats. Like I said earlier, the only difference is the plastic on the back & sides, other than that the seats are virtually identical including comfort level.

The only difference that I'm aware of on the new to old 4th gen firebird seats is the headrest. The newer and older firebirds were available with the seats that had the plastic sides and back. These were the better, articulating power seats. The standard leather seats did not have these adjustments, and did not have the plastic. The better articulating seats are exactly the same as the thirdgen GTA seats except for the headrest.

I'd add only one thing. My "new" leather seats are out of a '98. I got them from Lamberts in Boonesville MS. There is a tag on the bottom that reads "98" so that is why I believe they came from a 1998. They are "neutral" ie. tan leather, they have six way power and dual power lumbar. Most importantly, they have the plastic sides and back - AND a mesh net behind each seat for storing stuff.

Thanks to everyone for the replies so far.

I'm going to be staying with cloth seats. If I go with the newer, probably the dual pixel grey color, if the older style probably charcoal (tired of light grey look). Leather just doesn't do well in South Florida weather. I don't like melting to my seats in the middle of the summer.

I'll let you know how it goes with TA Creations next week after I get down there.

Yeah, let us hear how it turns out - Im working on a deal with them as we speak.

Another question - are there any difference in the comfort/looks between the 98+ Camaro vs Firebird/TA seats..??

Thanks,

Ken

They sent me an e-mail that said they only sell full sets (front and rear). I guess there's not much market for just rear seats.

I was told a range of $300-$450 for the ones they currently have in stock (cloth, not leather) and an extra $50 for power rails if I want them. If all goes well, I'll let everyone know how they are as a retailer. I know a few people have mentioned them on the board, so I guess their probably pretty decent.

Damn! Just paid $100 for 6-way power cloth out of a 98 Z28. Guess I got a good deal? I have Mr. Mikes leather in my Fiero and love them... especially the butt warmers. I was thinking about getting his kit. I e-mailed him and he told me he'd do them in the two-tone for me. I forgot to ask about the firebird stitched in....
