What is the best way to repaint front grill insert on front bumper?

What is the best way to repaint the front grill insert from a 1991 Z28? I was looking for a glossy black finish. I also wanted to smooth the grill out and shave off the red Chevy bow tie on the gill insert. I want it to look nice and glossy, not really half ***. I'm looking to do the work myself and not have to take it to a shop to get it painted.

Remove from car, wash (regular dish soap, no scented or soft hands), sand bowtie with 3 inch 80 grit on angle grinder. Dish out repair slightly. Fill in dish with 3m flexible glaze, may take multiple coats. You will want the area being glazed to be as horizontal as possible as the glaze is self leveling. Scuff, either gray or red scotch bright, perferably gray. Fill primer, block 320 at first transitioning to 400 final. You can spot prime or do whole part, its a judgment call.Sealer, paint. As always before any spraying you will want to use slovent wax and grease remover followed by waterborne wax and grease remover and tack off (tack rag).

You can do either BC/CC or single stage. Imo single stage will be closes to factory finish. It should be noted that this part will be non color sandable/buffable when finished so it is imperative to final finish quality to be sprayed in a booth.

This repair will be cheaper if performed by a shop as the cost of materials alone would be higher than a repair bill.
