Anyone ever heard of a candy white paint??
Hey I was driving home from school today, and I'm in the process of picking out a color to paint my trans am. When I thought about candy colors, and I was just curious here... has anyone ever seen or heard of a white candy paint? do you have any idea what'd it look like over a base of silver or something?? I'm interested if there's any out there and what'd it'd look like.. ??

Oh yeah.....Pearl is typically added to the clear so the base color wouldn't really matter.

I don't think its possible. A candy coat is a transparent coat of paint over top the basecoat which changes the color of the paint. If your midcoat is white and the top layer changes the color it wouldn't be white anymore, right? But if you mean a white tricoat then yes, thats possible. Its pretty much metallic white like you see on luxury cars. I've painted several white tricoats - its two or three coats of solid white basecoat and then two to four of pearl basecoat over the top, then clearcoat. I should warn you its pretty time consuming, you use more paint than a normal paint job, and the pearls are expensive so if you're on a budget you'll want to stay away from tricoats. Also if you plan on painting the car yourself you might not want to start with one of the hardest colors to spray.

Oh and I don't know what would happen if you put a white topcoat over a silver midcoat but I'm betting (depending on what white tint you use) it would either cover up the silver completely or be too transparent and leave you with a weird grayish color. If you used a white pearl topcoat like you use on a white tricoat over silver midcoat it would show right through to the silver.
