3rd brake light wont fir under Hawks spoiler
So like the title says...I bought a used 3rd brake light online and went to test fit my hawks spoiler (currently not installed) and the 3rd brake light seems way too tall. I got it lined up where the holes are and there is a 1/4”-1/2” gap where the corners of the spoiler are floating above the rear deck.
I assumed that all 3rd brake lights in that style were the same. Am I mistaken or is the Hawks spoiler just that far off?

Also just found this while I was planning where to drill new holes. Previous owner must have filled and welded the old spoiler holes at some point.

I'm assuming this is your Formula? Do the mounting holes in the Hawk's spoiler not line up with the factory holes? As for the brake light, I suspect it's the spoiler. Your brake light collar looks exactly the same as mine. You're probably going to need to trim the brake light collar down most likely. Not a fan of those aftermarket wings really. I can tell from 50ft away in a photograph that it's not correct. It's just shaped wrong everywhere. I'm sure it looks fine to some folks, but for the money you pay, it should be identical in every curve and shape all the way to the tips. I'm waiting for someone out there to start reproducing these exactly correct, then I'll buy one.

Ya, those are pics from my formula.
There are no mounting holes for the spoiler, atleast not anymore. As I drilled “new” holes I could see bondo coming out of the car, a long with those metal tabs on the back side, im assuming the previous owner decided to fill the holes at some point in the cars life.
I dont mind the hawks spoiler, it came in a box with the car when I bought it. But seeing how its the only aftermarket wrap around spoiler thats what people go with. Would be nice of it was exact but pretty close is better than nothing. imo.

Hawks sells an overpriced, cruddy reproduction? I'm shocked!
Seems like I've read about similar issues with the aftermarket glass, early aero wings before. Cutting the light is probably faster but I'd probably cut the wing instead. Afterall it's the piece that doesn't fit right.

I’ll have to test fit it again and see if the housing is the problem of the light itself. If its the light I might consider just going without it. I changed the bulbs and cant get it to light anyways, tho I like the look better with it.

I bought the hawks spoiler and had to do some sanding to the tips and very little to the third brake light and got it to fit nice

Update:
I got the spoiler on and bolted down. There is no way the brake light will fit. The housing and light itself both hit pretty bad, so im a little bummed, but atleast the spoiler is on and looks better than not having it.
