Not yet. I'll call on Friday and see what's up. I'm kinda suprised it's still taking this long, they've had those damn cables for months now.

I'm getting close to losing it with them. I called on the cables today and didn't get a call back on the status. It's getting rediculous..it's been wayyy too long.

Re: Hey Ed!
Thank you for the offer, I'll keep you in mind.
Update: As I kinda expected, we've made no progress. The parts he sent me were LT1/1LE cable ends which are no help as they won't slide over the LS1 brake lever as they are cast. With slight mods they might but that's not what I have in mind. I called on Wednesday but got not answer, I'm calling again tomorrow. I can't reason why this is taking this long and why this is so hard to figure out. With the right parts I can have this done in 10 minutes.
More later.

Re: Hey Ed!
Has anyone tried to make the cables themselves? i made a slotted end out of 1/8 metal and welded it to the metal crimped end of a stock drum brake cable. i didnt think it would work but figured i would try and it welds great. then made up a custom bracket to hold the cable at the distance i needed. i didnt have the ls1 brake cable brackets and didnt now if they would work so i made my own. they might work so long as they hold the brake line at the right distace. any way i now have a park brake that works perfectly.

Re: Hey Ed!
i will try to take pics and post them when i have some time. If you could use the ls1 brake cable brakets (does anyone have pics of these installed on a car? i would like to see what they look like and how they fit on the car) and find a cable that was the correct length, it would be a direct swap except for welding on the custom end to the cable. i already had the drum cables and the scrap metal laying around so i thought i would give it a try and see what i could do. i am happy the way mine turned out.

Re: Hey Ed!
Quickly skimming through the thread here (very quickly), it looks like you guys are trying to find a bolt-on solution for rear LS1 e-brake cables, right? Well, there is a bolt-on solution with all 4th gen parts (e-brake handle/cable, rear cables, hangers, etc.), but it requires welding of a bracket to hold the cables after the e-brake. Here is what I did awhile back. Both differential bolts are 5/16x1" coarse thread grade 8's; welded bracket is spaced about 9 5/8" from the front bracket. Works like a charm.

Re: Hey Ed!
boys, hold your horse,i think ive found a maker.i sent him pics of what i need and he says he has the proper end for the backing plates.the only diff is the end that goes on the equalizer.our stock ones are ball ends, his is a barrel end but will still work fine on the stock equalizer.i sent him my specs or "preffered length" i wanted.i hope i measured right.well see.if these work they will clip right onto the ls1 brakes and also the holes which hold the cable on and also should be able to use the stock equalizer and lever w/o any mickey mouse spacers or what not.ill advise when i get them in.hopefully in a week .

Re: Hey Ed!
boys,my worries and possibly yours are over.i found an outfit that makes cables and i had a set made based on my dimensions that i thought i needed and guess what, they work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! equalizer works like it should, cables sit nice, and im happy.the only problem(wait) was the end that goes on the backing plate, they had a simliar end(pic provided)but the inside slot was a tad shorter than the ls1 one so i used my dremel tool to open it up and they worked fine.the springs they have arent as wide as stock but theyre as long and provided plenty of tension for release.they conmpany only has "barrel" ends for the equalizer ends as opposed to gms ball style end but the barrel end worked just fine in the stock equalizer.
they werent cheap,112 shipped to my door for the pair but i now have a safe parking/emergency brake sytem that works like stock and uses all the stock parts.i mentioned there might be other offers to buy cables from 3rd gen and the rep said if they wanted to all they need is my name and or order # and they would make a duplicate set.anyone interested pm me. fyi im leaving monday morning and wont be around till friday afternoon.
if you look at the pics youll see its all good even the equalizer end has about 3/4" left for adjustment. i imagine you could get away with a 1/2" shorter inner cable but what i have worked so im happy. as far as length i measured the best i could and they seem to sit well underneath.some folk might want longer or shorter cables which they can do.in order for these to work all you would need is to know the difference in length between the inner and outer cables and then adjust your cables proportionaly depending on whether you wanted shorter or longer cables.
anyways let me know, they look like high quality and are black rubber outers and black plastic coated inner giving them a stock look as well.

Then I took the stock braket off the 4th gen, and used bolts through my tunnel to hold it up. I wanted to weld it, and planned to after I knew it was in the right spot. But it worked so good that I didnt bother..just left it bolted. Works perfectly so far. I had to cut my one stock cable tab off to clear my exhaust...so it kind of worked out in the long run anyway.
Having a set of cables available would be sweet... But at over 100 for a pair, even if they were available when I did my swap I wouldnt have used em...
Just my input. Sucks that Ed is having issues getting his set sorted out. Bet thats frustrating. Its been so long, that Im sure you could have started fabbing your own cables by now...like you said. If you had the parts...

Re: Hey Ed!
Thanks for your input, I appreciate it. $100 will be a lot for guys to pay for cables compared to $45 or so for stock LT1 replacement cables. I will keep working and talking to the vendor, maybe I can put together a group purchase for a lower price if I can get enough comitted buyers, so if you're really interested in these cables please post up so I can get a head count.
Thanks!
Ed
