Jumping brakes
When I apply the brakes my car jumps until I completely stop! It's agrivating. I don't know what it is. So far I have changed:
Struts
shocks
calipers
rotors
drums
tie-rods
and all the brake pads are fine
I don't know what it could be.
Can anyone help?

Re: Jumping brakes
Could it be the brake lines? They are pretty old, I think twelve years.

Re: Jumping brakes
What do you mean jump? Like right to left?

Re: Jumping brakes
if it is surging and pulsing it could b warped rotors. Do you feel it in the pedal? Are th rotors old and do you driv it like you are a grand prix driver?

Re: Jumping brakes
I just changed the rotors about 2 weeks ago. It it jumps back and fourth. No I don't feel it in the pedal; I drive it the speed limit, I don't know what it is.

Re: Jumping brakes
back and forth as in left to right? proportioning valve in the combination valve comes to mind...but u would think it would just pull to one side rather than left to right.

Re: Jumping brakes
It jumps front to back. The tires are new. I don't know what to think.

Front to back? Sorry but I still don't know what you mean by that. How old are the ball joints and suspension?

Re: Jumping brakes
did you break in the new rotors correctly and make sure to use caliper grease on all parts?

Re: Jumping brakes
ebmiller88- It's no problem, just the front and back of my car bounces up and down when I press the breaks only and not idling at low speeds(trust me I checked).
All I changed was my tie rods the rest is stock. To break the rotors in all I did was drive usual, just at first I started and stopped from about 30 to 0; 40 to 0 ; and 60 to 0, and now I just drive normal. And I re-lubed the calipers and rotors when I changed the rotors.

Re: Jumping brakes
are ur rear brakes even working? sounds like it could be ur combination valve...but either way thats kinda wierd...are ur rear shocks new as welll? are ur rear brakes adjusted up properly? its dificult to diagnose things without actually driving the car.

Re: Jumping brakes
My shocks are new and the rear drums work. When I pressed the breaks when the back is on jacks, they DON'T turn at all. I just had them adjusted about 4 months ago. The drums do squeek a little though.

Re: Jumping brakes
I'm completely out of ideas. except to say mine was making a weird noise in the back and it was crammed with dust and it brake a little weird but nothing like that. last resort bring it somewhere and pray to god they don't like mustangs.
