Proportioning valve options?
Hey y'all, I'm getting ready to redo my brakes during my LS swap and I am going to use a hydroboost unit because of a big cam, and I switched to a fourth gen/LS master cylinder. I'm also going to be running fourth gen front brakes and most likely fourth gen rear brakes (or the disc brake conversion kit that Hawks sells). What Proportioning valve should I use? I'm looking at the Wilwood valve but should I use the combination/Proportioning valve or just the **** style Proportioning valve? Unsure as to which I should use. Hope someone has some advice and thanks in advance, Jeremy.

Re: Proportioning valve options?
I used a Hydratech Hydroboost unit on my firebird. It uses a late model gm master and has it connected to a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve with a couple of 2 psi valve in between. Reason i went with this valve was its adjustable (to suit my custom brakes) and has separate front outlets so i dont have to run a T piece for the front brake lines. Works fine for me.

Re: Proportioning valve options?
This is what I run on my car. It is very well balanced. Even at threshold braking the rears will not lockup early. It's the closest to having all 4 lockup at the same time as I can get...
LS1 brakes all 4 corners (I made a short about 10" long cable to extend the stock LS1 parking brake cables to reach the third gen parking brake balance bar).
My stock 1988 combination valve (I wanted to keep the warning light function). Remove the front facing cap and toss the spring that's under it. Install a part number 1NCF2 with a 37 lb/inch rate. spring reinstall the cap.
See this thread for more details https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/brak...e-upgrade.html
For the pads and rotors I use the Brakemotive76 e-bay ones search this part # on e-bay BM9162426339. They are dirt cheap about $170 for all 4 rotors and pads. I can get a season out of them (3-5 Track days) plus a couple of thousand street miles.
When I replace them I do new rotors and pads since they are so cheap.
Note however I am running 245/50 - 16 rubber http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes
27.5" Dia if you change the tire dia that will effect the brakes and you will need to experiment with what will work the best for you.
