1986 305 Carb 5 Speed Hardtop

I don't know what this is worth. I bought it for 3500 last year, got it appraised for $6000 before I dumped $2000+ into it. Then today some guy at a pawn shop told it me it was worth 2500, if that. It was garaged for 10 years, never saw rain or snow. 99% rust free, 126,000 miles on the body. New: Headliner, tires with white lettering, idler arm, horn, seatbelts, clutch starter switch, starter, tires, speakers, driver side’s lock, floor pads, custom seat covers, straight pipes. Has the stock radio, dash has no cracks. Cosmetically it only has maybe 10 light scratches that only I could point out. Custom paint.

The Bad: No AC, windshield wiper fluid doesn't squirt, fuel gauge doesn't work, engine is old, white smoke.

What's a good asking price for this? Thanks.

never listen to a pawn shop....they WILL rip you off. its prolly worth what you paid, until you said white smoke. white smoke is most likely a blown head gasket but could be warped head(s) or a warped block....

A mechanic told me the white smoke was because of (rubber valve seals?) that needed replacing or that coolant was burning, although it's never over heated and the coolant level doesn't drop.

Valve seals would blow blue smoke from the oil burning.

Well I'm not sure then, it's white smoke but the engine doesn't over heat and the coolant doesn't drop.
