Axle/Gears: 9 bolt disc 3.27
1987 IROC-Z Z28 5.7L in B.C. Canada
Ok, this car is a true 1987 IROC. It used to have a 5.0L TPI with 5speed, but now has a 5.7L TPI with a rebuilt (not sure when) 700R4. I know, why not use the 5 speed the car originally came with??? Well, the engine and tranny were absent when I bought the car. But I had a complete 1987 IROC-Z 5.7L with a smashed right front section that could donate it's parts.
So the car originally had a grey interior and it retains the gray seats and door panels, but I swapped over the rest of the black interior bits (carpet, headliner, etc..) from the donor car and super cleaned everything.
The car was repainted just a few months ago and looks great! The decals are from Phoenix Graphics. I didn't order the bottom stripes cause I never really liked the look of them.
The rear axle is the good one, a 9 bolt with disc brakes and a good posi with 3.27 ratio gears. I just recently changed the diff oil and put in some GM approved posi additive. The car has new front calipers and rubber lines. New Bosch wipers, however, I should note that the windshield has a long arching scratch on the passenger side from a previous owner who didn't change the wiper blades in time. This does not affect driver visability though. Odometer has almost 147,000 kilometers or 91,350 miles on it. The donor car had air conditioning, but this car did not, so I deleted all the A/C stuff on the engine when I swapped it over.
A little bit of smoke on start up after sitting overnight (valve seals??). It drives good, but on hot days it wants to stall when shifting into drive or reverse from a standstill. Not sure what is causing this, but I suspect the MAF sensor. I'm not a Camaro expert and not the greatest at diagnosis, so this is just a guess for me.
Anyways, a clean car inside and out and very fun to drive. Let me know if your interested. Located in Enderby, British Columbia. $6000 obo.
