Selling my project camaro because I would like to buy a convertible. This car has no motor or transmission (had a 305 tpi and 700r4 automatic, but those are gone as well as the tpi harness). It does, however, have a lot going for it. Clean and clear title in my name, paint is ok from 10 feet but could use new paint. 91,XXX original miles. Here's what I've done to it (i'm probably forgetting some things, have done so much work to it):

Por 15 entire floorboards and engine bay (were EXTREMELY SOLID beforehand, just wanted them to look clean)
Removed undercoating from wheel wells and painted with POR 15
Brand new 3:42 gears, and a good working auburn posi unit (old gov loc was no longer working)
New tubular rear control arms, pan hard bar, pan hard brace, as well as lower control arm relocation brackets.
New shocks in rear, new struts in front KYB GR2
Upper strut mount plates for better camber/caster adjustment
New moog ball joints, tie rod ends, sleeves, idler arm, and track bar.
New energy poly front control arm bushings
New energy motor mounts and transmission mount
New energy sway bar end links, and mounts
New energy torque arm mount
LS1 front brake conversion basically done, just needs rotors and pads
LS1 rear brake setup included as well, just need rotors and pads

Torque arm, steering box, driveshaft, control arms, engine mounts, sway bars, wonder bar, fuel tank and straps, etc have all been painted.

The car obviously needs an engine and transmission. Among that, it will need the brakes put back together, sway bars, fuel lines and brake lines, and the steering finished up. This car will need work but it has a ton of new parts and money into it.

Had I known that, believe me, I wouldn't have stuck $400 into the rear end, and how much into all the other parts that came with the car as well as all the hours painting. I thought I had a really solid roller. I'm having a hard time understanding why somebody would do that! I'm not a guy who parts these out or collects them, I'm just a guy who likes to tinker in the garage and I guess now I have something else to look for when buying cars.

hmm this is the second third gen that I've heard of being welded together. Chances are it was in a bad accident very very early in its life when it was still worth enough money to do this to. Any pics of the weld together? Id be curious to see it.

I consider the car to be the front half with the back half being simply a repair part. If done correctly it is still a functional car with VIN and [salvage?] title. Doing such a repair may be the right way depending on the damage. If it were a '68 Z28 i don't think it would seem as problematic. Heck, rare muscle car restorations start with rusted hulks being as little as a cowl and tag, and block if "lucky." Hate to see another Lear Siegler car bite the dust.

Yeah I bought the car and thought it is my duty to make sure it never gets to the road. Like some one said if it was done right it wouldn't be a big deal but it was done by a hack. The good thing about is it will help many a Camaro on the road.
