What kind of speakers are YOU using???
I'm looking to see what kind of speakers you people are using in your dashes? I'm looking to replace the blown ones that I have and would like to hear suggestions. I'm not looking for sound contest types, just some that will sound good. Thanks in advance....

Kick panels are definitely the way to go but I'm not an infinity fan. I compared them by way of listening to them and on paper. I like my Kenwood Excelon's.

I really appreciate the responses I've gotten. Never realized this was such a strong topic for most thanks again people...
I'm gonna be getting the speakers this week and it's gonna be a pair of infinity speakers as they are mentioned the most.
Again, thanks for the assist people...

The Kenwood Excelons that I have have great power and excellent clarity. Unfortunately there is much bass to speak of. Guess I'm gonna need to get a box

I know you all are going to **** on me for sayin' this but my pioneers in my dash sound pretty good. My system was built on a budget though. I think eventually I'd like to step up to Kove plates.

I was running an Sony XPLOD 52x4 Deck (thanks to my neighborhood car thief). I still have the Sony XPLOD 6x9's in the rear and POLK 3½'s in the Front.
My plan is to make everything in my car Sony (Amps, Speakers, Subs, etc). I want 2 Sony XPLOD 12's and put some Tweets in the front.

A little wide-spot in the road called capron. It's about 25 minutes NE of Rockford on Rt. 173.
Haven't been to UG or rt66. I was just at byron last week.
what side of chitown you on?

Northwest side are my stomping grounds.
Never been to Byron yet. Hows the track out there? Nice?
Union Grove is alright, pricey... $50 to run... and the pot holes in the staging area suck to no end.
Route 66 is SWEET! Now that is a top quality track, and only $20 to run.
Any cruise nights out by you? I'm looking to broaden my horizons :-)

50 to run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I won't be going there.
Byron cost 25 to run. I liked the track. No potholes and the traction (I was running summer street tires) was phenomenal. No unintentional spinning.
I don't know of any cruise nights around. Once in a while something happens but otherwise I usually just hook up with people I know and wreak havoc in Rockford.
Think I'm gonna have to try Route 66

66 is killer.... a real professional track. Stadium seating no less. Definitely top notch, you got to check it out.
I take it your not a member of any clubs. You know a lot of third gen owners out by you?

Re: What kind of speakers are YOU using???
Im using pioneer 4x6, Whatever the cheapest ones off the shelf are.
They sound excellent.
The accoustics are so bad in the cars, you should just replace it with the cheapest alternative (that wont blow).

I used to use CSL, and Peavey back in the day. Accordian surround and all.
My last system had some half decent MTX and JBL's.

Re: What kind of speakers are YOU using???
I put in Boston Acoustics Pro 4" seperates with tweeters in plates I made myself, and put Boston 4x6 in the rear sail panels in a set of the old UQ7 boxes I had laying around. 2 10" Pioneer subs (for now) with a Phoenix Gold M44 (4x40) driving the mains wired at 2ohm and a Phoenix Gold MS275 (2x75)on the subs wired at 1ohm. Total documented power of 310 but realistic power is around 800 watts.

Re: What kind of speakers are YOU using???
I am a big Boston fan. Right now I have what came with the car....Pioneers. Very unimpressed with them for what I am used to. For the price of Boston you can't go wrong. Though I am not to big of a fan with there subs. They are alright but there are better.

Re: What kind of speakers are YOU using???
Can't go wrong with the PRO series of subs, when 2 10" subs hit as hard as 4 15's.....something has been done right with them. Probably just haven't heard their subs with the right amount of power going to them, a buddy of mine has 2 10's in a trailblazer in a 1cuft box with 1 JL 500/1 going to each (one amp on one sub).
