rockford amp/alpine sub?
hey, ive never been too big into audio, but my car is getting boring with zero bass response as it feels haha. what i want to do, is get a budget sub/amp combo, since i have an aftermarket head unit and speakers.
12" alpine type R sub = 135 shipped from www.carmedia1.com
Rockford 401s amp = 151 shipped from www.ikesound.com
i want to get the type r sub in a 2 ohm DVC form, since i saw on the rockford website, the wiring diagram that showed two 2 ohm DVCs wired to get a 4 ohm load from the amp, how do i bridge the amp so that both channels go into a mono form? is it positive of one channel and the negative of the other channel?
how is this going to sound? im going for more of an SQ settup since im not into crazy bass, i listen to rock and metal, and dont want the bass to drown out everything else. i was planning on either making an enclosure, or just buying a universal truck box and putting it in the well, since this isnt permanent by any means. it will have about .85 cubic feet of space. is the equipment decent?
thanks!

sq
go for a diferent speaker if youd like sq
i have heard the type R's
up against other subs and the prices were compareable, they were blown away in frequency response
look in to phenoix gold, jl, eclipse, or infinity kappa as the last choice
rockford makes good amps in my opinion but you dont have to get one they make others with similar ratings at different ohm loads so you are not limited to certin speakers
phenoix gold amps are quite nice as well, if you went with 2 p g tantrum series 10" or 12" subs and a phenoix gold amp, you will be loud, and it will sound great, no joke
i believe if no stores in your area have them(dang shame) then sound domain carries a limited supply of pg
