Most INSANE 3rd gen setup EVER!!!

Well, these pics are from forever ago, and I just found them again on my computer...

Does anyone know where this car is or who owns it? I have NEVER seen ANY car have a system like this!

And, what is that thing in the console do? Or that stuff on the dash?

Here's the low down:

Eclipse TV, VCR
Eclipse 6 disk cd changer
Eppicenter center channel processor

Rockford Fosgate: Two Punch 30's, two Punch 200's, Punch 60 Pro-Series 12", four 5 1/4"(doors) four 4" tweeters

Custom fiberglass dash and door panels
System controlled by a Rockford Fosgate computer

CO2 tank controlling 5 cylinders:
Rear deck raises backwards on air pressure, amp racks and sub box also raise and lower by air
Red neons in sub box
All air cylinders are controlled by key
Chrome 5.0 engine
All digital gauges in dash
Super Trapp mufflers
New wheels and tires
Viper talking alarm
Cowl hood
Rear wing
Custom paint
Multi car stereo award winner

I'm sorry, I just saw that there is a 3 pic max... I kinda exceeded that! I was told that was just the appearance board...

I will see if I can figure out how to put them on a different site and link here or something

Once again, sorry!!

Nice set up I guess. I think it's kinda excessive though. Looks like $ isn't an issue for this guy.

Jim, you always seem to know a lot about sound systems...

Is that an old setup or just done with old style/stuff?

Any age on the RF subs?

Weird/excessive/Camaro-degrading etc... You have to admit, it is definately original!!

Guy sure knows how to put a stereo in but the exterior is freakin retarded! I kinda like the flip up rear for originality. Looks like he ran out of money on stereo mods and had to settle for cheap a$$ body kit!

The only thing newer than at least 10 years old is the head unit. Everything else dates back to the early 90s or older. Those subs may be pushing closer to 15 years old, and the door speakers aren't much newer.

The installation itself appears to be that old too. I don't see anything that says otherwise. 10 years ago was pre-kick panel, vinyl was all the rage, as was that compartmentalized style that the back shows.

The center channel thing was just peaking around 93 to 95, and pretty much disappeared once people realized that you could achieve better imaging with a conventional pair of speakers in the kicks, or with waveguides under or behind the dash.

I also noticed that there aren't any tweeters in the doors, and they don't appear to be in the kicks, which leads me to believe that there may be another 2-way setup in the stock dash locations, and the doors are used just for midbass duties. Either that or it's just tweeters in the dash. Either configuration also points to a 10 year old install. Professional installers abandoned that practice of separating the drivers around 10 years ago.

So what does that Symetry stuff do?

Also, how does that amp rack go down? He must have gotten a fuel cell, removed the tank... but what else would be required to do that?

Car: 92 caddy PIMP
Engine: 4.8
Transmission: i dunno
I like some of the touches and not so much of others...

First thing I noticed was the ugly wing. Thats gotta go.
Another thing would be that equipment is deff. not modern.
I like the hood and the hatch. But the cowl obviously doesnt work anymore now. hehe. It looks like this was done a long time ago. If he was to do something like that nowadays I bet it would be alot better of a car, and look a hellavalot better. Still pretty sweet. Overall it deff. stands out.

Car: 1999 Chevy Cavalier
Engine: 2.2
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: it's part of the transmission
I might not have done the same things myself, but this guy definitly has some interesting ideas!

I give him an A+ on th backwards lifting hatch, regardless of the retro wing.

Those retractable sub and amp racks are interesting for sure.

I'm not a chrome guy, but the motor looks decent, I didnt notice the oxy-ferrite colored manifolds....I must've been blinded by the chrome

most of the stuff is impracticle and adds significant wieght, but this guy obviously isn't going for acceleration records, it's a show car and I'm sure he's perfectly happy with it.

It's definitly old school.....VCR?....come on now! I would definitly like to restore an old thirdgen with some working audio of it's era, I think it would be nostalgic. Sometimes we have to appreciate our roots to appreciate today's technology.
I would definitly like to know more about those wave guides, someone please fill me in! Is it mentioned in any audio literature/sites?

alot of that stuff is outdated and there are several better alternatives today. most of those extra devices would not be necessary. I wonder If this guy has built another car, I bet everyone here would like to see it, it could be better or it could be worse......

"poor car" maybee, but at least this guy took some pride in his car and didn't let it become a scrappy banged up 'wanna-be dragster' or worse: some lady driving it with an ashtray full of cigarette butts, fuzzy dice and the same oil, belts, hoses and ATF for the last 15 years.
