how do you install an xm radio setup?

hi guys im thinkin of gettin a delphi xm radio setup for my camaro and or our s10.
i have seen the car kit for 180 bucks plus tax and i also see where u can buy the receiver for 100 and the fm modulator for liek 50.

i need to know what to get and what else i might need i'd liek to buy the receiver and the fm kit and do it that way but what else would i need?

i sen the car kit came w/ a holder for the receiver and an antenna and buying the face as i call it or receiver and fm mod. wont have thoose in it.

i need to know how it hooks up and to what and how before i buy it so i know what im getting into.

in both my camaro and the s10 we have aftermarket stuff cd players amps subs and stuff.

and i need to hook the xm up to the fm modualtor. so should i just get the xm car kit that has the fm mod.? or buy the face and fm mod itself?

if so how about moutning or anything and what else would i need to buy in order to take this fomr my camaro to the s10?
anyone done an install a how to would be great esp pics thanks guys.

This is easy!

Skyfi:
The skyfi has many different uses, car, house, and boombox style..

The skyfi requires three boxes... GREEN YELLOW BLUE...

Green: Car kit (mounting bracket, antenna, cig adapter, tape adapter.)

Yellow: FM modulator (use this instead of cig and tape adapter)

Blue: Reciever (cant do anything without this)

Roady:
The roady is stricktly for the car.
The roady needs two packages..

The main package: Receiver, tape and cig adapter, antenna

The fm accessory package: Wireless fm modulator built into a cig lighter.

ok cool so either would work then thanks for clearing that up anyone else got any coments on it or like how tos or tips let me know or if anyone has a prefference on which would work best.

i know they say the fm modulators suck because u dont got 100 percent digital then because its goin to fm instead of pure xm but i have no cassette so im goin to have to use this.

if u dont buy the car kit meaning to get the antenna and junk it wont work will it?

liek say just buy the skyfi receiver and fm modualtor it wont work because i'd need the cig lighter plug in power supply to give the unit power right?
and then need a antenna to get siganl and have to use the special one for the kit.?
like say i know the fm plugs into the back of the head unit were the normal fender mount antenna does right?
im thinkin its like a t fitting to were u plug it in the hu and it has holes to plug the sky fi in it plus yur normal antenna and i kinda thought hmm wonder if my normal antenna would work for the xm satealite one?
i may try this out try find me a kit to get n all
becuz i know the receiver or face itself skyfi is 100 bucks and the fm mod for skyfi is 50
and then the roady kit is only for the car and got get the wireless cig adapter fm mod for it.

Skyfi car kit has the sat ant.. The antenna has alot more involved than you think.. Trust me on that one

The Fm modulator gives power to the Reciever no need for the cig adapter

The roady so far only has the option for the car..

ok whats the difference in the xm skyfi fm mod and the wireless roady one?
nearest i can figure and the site im checkin says u can only use the sky fm mod w/ the skyfi receiver and for roady u have to use the wireless fm mod for the cig lighter right?
because site im checkin here locally has the roady and the skyfi fm mod but no wireless roady one so will the skyfi fm mod work w/ the roady or u have to use the special wireless one made for the roady?
thanks

The SkiFi mod is hidden behind the dash and breaks your antenna signal when you kick on your reciever, and you get crapy radio reception till you turn off the reciever. The Roady wireless cig one doesnt cut the signal exept for on the one station you have to tune too. The SkiFi one is alot cleaner and I like it alot better (I install them about every other day) all it is is a power and ground, and plug your antenna into it, and it gives you a different plug to plug into your antenna so it can interupt when you kick on the reciever.

BTW...Word of advice...when you install this thing, be VERY carefull with that antenna wire, you kink it or sumthin, and your screwed, you'll have to buy a new one(40 to 90 bucks, depending on what kind you get). Also, you dont have to put it on the outside of the car, you can put it on the dash, just make sure the windshield wipers are out of the way (but they sink down, so there should be no problem there) Your modulator also powers your reciever so you dont need the cig adapter or tape adapter. And if you go to a shop that installs hands free cell phone kits, chances are they sell a pro-fit kit of some kind that will make your install look very clean. You will only see three wires...power, sound, and antenna. And they all tuck into the dash, so it is very clean. I havent had much time to play with the roady, so I dont know how clean it installs but the skifi looks very nice in any car. The SkiFi switches between home and cars. Just need another car adapter/modulator to do another vehicle, and either a boombox or home kit (purple box) do take it into the house and hook it to your home system. Go SkiFi, screw the roady.
