I put in my 2ohm Kove Audio sub in today. Its the Armageddon ZM model dual voice coil.. Its 600w rms. I have a 4ohm 850w Ultimate amp running it. THe guy as the shop said to run the amp paralell into the sub...and they should drive it down to 2ohms. Anyway, I made my box, and put it in.
I am really dissapointed. I think my 250w rms Memphis sub shoved harder. Where did I go wrong? I know the stuff I have is quality..I ran 4 awg wire to a convertor..and I 8 awg wire into the amp..should I have 2 8awg wires running to it?

Any help would be awesome..thanks.

do up a simple wire diagram of whatyou have done in paint or somethign so we can see how its hooked up now

It doesnt matter what ohm your amp is, your speakers are what is going to determine that when you hook it up.

You didnt provide any part numbers so no clue on what type of equipment you have. How many channels on the amp?

Does your sub have two 4ohm voice coils wired parallel to give you that 2ohm? Or does it have two 2ohm coils?

If its a one channel amp - run positive and negative of one coil to the other, and then the second coil to the amp's one channel. If two channel amp... i dunno if bridging and having 2ohm voice coils might f up the amp.

yeah jsut think of it this way... if you have two 4ohm coils, if you run them in parallel to the amp you get a 2ohm load. if you run em in series you get a 8 ohm load. this is assuming a one chanel amp. bridging may give you one ohm in parallel im not sure.

I have spotted one foul so far....

850 rms amp with 8awg wire.......ahhhhhhhhhhh, wrong answer.

get rid of the 'converter' and run 4g directly to the amp (fused at the battery)

4g for the ground strap as well.


you mentioned that your sub is 2 ohm....yet dual coil, is this 2 ohms per coil or 2 ohms with both coils in parallel?

It does make a difference. The speakers determine the ohms.......wrong, since when was the amplifier not included in this?


ohm this, ohm that....so much talk about impedence, nothing seems to 'match' up.

fix the power cables, then show us how your speakers are wired.

Ultimate 850 watt = junk

Memphis 280 watt = GOOD AMP!

in conclusion, I believe you wired your subs right, but forgot the most important part of all........solid gear.

fix those power cables, it is your only hope.

The amp IS included in this, but the amp performs according to the ohms of the speaker. This is why I said the ohms of the speaker is essential to understanding what he is trying to do.

And if he isnt going to respond back with all the info just close the damn thread. Enough speculating on his junk.

We found the problem.
We had everything wired right..but the deck we were using was 1.5 volts at the pre outs. It was starving the amp. We now have it on at 4 volt preout deck and I must say...its one of the loudest systems I've heard around these parts.
