Is this common and how do i fix it
I got a 1.5DIN Pioneer deck and it works great. Only problem is the display doesnt work. It will show very very faintly if the sun hits it at the right angle. The lights work and the cd/radio works fine. I was thinking if somehow i can find a new face would it fix the problem? and how/where would i find a new face. Thanks

First: What the model#.
It may or may not fix the problem. Some of Pioneers EL displays where just hard to read in the light. If the faceplate is dimmer then it should be then it not a unusual problem. The EL itself (electroluminescent back light) degrades over time. If that is the case a new faceplate (or EL strip) will fix the problem.

Well the part number for the EL strip is CEL1432 (Loc# 99) and the part number for the grill ***'y/faceplate is CXA8453 (Loc# 48). I would get the whole faceplate if you can, vary likely you make have key problems next.
Now, with that said the DEH-43dh is an older unit and that may make getting parts harder sometimes. Try to call Pioneer customer service. They should be able get you the info you need to order parts.
I would remember that the unit is older, don't spend alot to fix it.
