how did you do that bird in between the subs and does it cover up your amp? looks really good i wouldnt mind doing mine like that to where it covers up the amp
The bird is actually a light, here's a pic of it on
It started as a cheap bar light off ebay, just engraved perspex. I added the mirrors and the LEDs to it and it is wired to come on when the amp switches on. My amps are in the spare tire well.
Heres mine. Not a camaro; but the same principle. Custom well fiberglassed , One JL 15 and an inlayed Rockford 501 b/d bridged around silver tweed. Hits 142 db.

Thank you for that. It hits when I get the urge, I'm driving it with 1100 watts RMS from the sub channel of the amp. It's set up as an SQ system and I normally play it at a comfortable volume to hold a conversation. I have on occasion lit up the third digit on my ammeter (over 100 amps) for well over 1000 watts. I've no idea what the dB level is as I haven't had it measured.
does anyone know if you can run a triple 12 box in the rear hatch or maybe have pics of a fiberglass box with two 12s and a 15? and can anyone tell me some alternative amp mounting locations mine is currently under my shallow box and its bad about over heating i tried putting it on top of the box but the wires were showing
Here is some pics of my box (s) before being painted the color of my car I will post some new pics when i can get some. box drops all of the way down, hits crazy hard.
2 Fosgate P3's new style
1001bd power series amp
changed out the 6.5's pictured for kappa 6x9's, 2 right there and 2 on the flag panels running off a 4 channel
can someone post the dimensions for a box that holds two 10s but sits level with the two ledges in the hatch area of a coupe camaro? pics if possible? thanks

i have noticed alot of peaple just but down a thick piece of mdf and cut a hole and use the well as there box, thats just not right, the air space would be all wrong and it wouldnt resonate, so i built mine full box and all, it was a bitch to get her in though, had to pull the whole interior *** end apart including the rear latch and motor
Hears my box for my single 12" but could do to i think it looks good with no wires showing
its got a full box under it and the air space is perfect for the sub

can you post the measurements for your box? it is exactly what i want.
Crappy cell phone pic but this is my set up. It's a sealed enclosure from sonic electronix and 2 hiphonics 12's the reason i have em flipped is because when i had em the other way the plastic piece on one of the subs rattles for some reason.
i dont rilly kno the mesurments of the box cuz i built it as i went but i just build templets with 1" wide strips of osb an then copyed them to the mdf....i cant rilly take it out of there cuz as morrow said i had to pull the hole interior to get it in sorry.... glad u like my box tho its about 2 1/4 cubic feet

Thanks

well being that its a walmart 12 and a cheep amp only pushing about 75 watts it sounds good hits lows varry well but sounds like **** if ur outside the car......inside it sounds grate
Heres what I did. One amp powers the 12" sub, the other amp powers the 6x9s. Got the ideas from this site Did alot of research into the proper air space for the sub, wire size, ohms etc. Being my first build audio wise, it was more than I had anticipated. Took me about 3 days just to figure the right measurements for the box and with the right airspace. SO im slow
This is my setup. The box starts at the rear seats and is about 4" deep at that point.
At the hatch it drops down to the first level and stops there.
I'm really wanting to change to a different box that will be recessed into the hatch,
so that I have room to store my t-tops in the factory locations. It sounds good though. Previous owner did the work.
Picked this up awhile ago while i was searchin for a 3rd gen but got a 2 dr box caprice instead... but jus thought id show, still actually searchin for one to put it in lol but yeh four 12s, should do pretty good
That sub is not 1000w RMS. He says "1100 watt sub channel of a Memphis Belle amplifier." It is at least half that rating RMS. It is probably 450-500rms. 1000 RMS he would probably need to reinforce the whole hatch.

Ryan...AlHasse runs a Mojo 12" dual 2 ohm sub. The lastest version is
rated at 1000W RMS and 2000W max

Thank you slow305rs. And BTW, that 1100 watts from the Memphis Big Belle amp is rated RMS at 1 ohm (the configuration I'm running). Also, the hatch area isn't air-tight enough to warrant any reinforcement, air is going to get out around the glass.
Granted, there's a bit of power there, but I rarely use it all. High power systems sound excellent at low volumes, too.

that is nice. If i ever get around to upgrading the sound system in my car thats exactly how i want mine to look so i dont lose ALL trunk space in my car.
That is just so nice. any sites you used to build that or tips?

A couple quick tips come to mind right away. Measure more than twice before you make your cuts. I actually drew it on paper first, then measured and measured and measured, which is probably the hardest part imho. Make sure, whatever sub you use, that you get the correct air space box wise made underneath the sub. I went with that rockford sub because it is a shallow mount and sounds absolutly perfect for my needs. Didnt really use any sites except this one as references. Couple of things I would of done differently. possibly add some sort of handle to lift the unit out when needed, and then I really should of used particle board instead of plywood. Live n Learn I guess

Did you carpet your trim, or did it come stock like that?
here is the set up in my 87 Camaro
Alpine touch CD Player
Kicker wire
Kicker KX700.5
Fusion Power Plant Highs/mids
JL Audio W6V2 12s in a box built by me

Lots of 3rd Gens came with carpeted panels, I believe its called a deluxe interior? Im sure im wrong, but it came in every color as far as I know. I had an 84Z that had charcoal with the carpeted panels as well.
not my best work at all just a quick set up, had some optidrive 12,s in there some on set a beer down blew thos, not an exspensive set up at all for everything i built and wired like i said not an exspensive set up but does the job great, below the hifonics speakers is a 36in neon tube that lighs up the back trunk

I actually did that with a 12" MTX Thunder 4000 pushed by a RF Punch 100DSM and hit 135.5dB. Microphone on the windshield using and AUDIOSOURCE SPL meter.
I didn't just lay the wood back there, though. Basically, I cut a piece that formed with the rear wall and sat tight against the bottom of the well. I attached it to the car using sheet metal screws and liquid nails sealer. Then I put a ledge on the front wall of the well using a 1"x2" and attached it the same way. Of course the top of the ledges were level with the top "shelves" of the well.
Then I used liquid nails sealer to seal up every possible crack and screwed the plate to the wood ledges using drywall screws and sealing them with liquid nails construction adhesive. It weighed next to nothing and sounded very good.
I even ported it later on. That was after I hit 135.5 dB. I never had it tested after that, but it certainly hit harder.
