Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
About 300 titles on traditional 33's and another (believe it or not) 100 discs of hard vinyl (or shellac records as they were called) on 78 rpm.
None of the above fit into my CD player in the Sport Coupe.
Yes, I'm aware some of you will say " CD player?" I haven't reached the MP3 player level yet (with it's inherently poor audio quality).

true that the audio quality is not as good as cd, but in a noisy car (especially ours), a high quality VBR rip will not have any noticed depreciation in quality and allow you to fit 8-10 albums on one disc. These days, i pretty much just dump a bunch of tunes onto my phone and play em through the aux in.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
Hahaha. First thing is first. I never heard of any such vinyl player in a car. Second, it's unpractical to have a player that uses a needle to move within a groove on a plastic plate while in a car! A CAR!!!! Too much vibrations. And third, an mp3 player can store data in the giga bytes. A1Dan is correct. The quality of the music is pointless in our thirdgens. Let's face it, most of us have loud low tone mufflers that drown out the most finest tones in music. As for compression, well there are many forms. Personally I like lossy compression because it's not as small as a "wma" file but not too big like a "wav" file. As long as the music is 16 bit and a frequency of 44.1 KHz, I'm good.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
I've been listening to alot of Believer recently. Solid late 80s early 90s Christian Thrash Metal. Its just Thrash Metal with Christian lyrics realy. Now when people hear the words Christian metal they emmediatly think it implies a different sound. Usually metalcore mixed with a little bit of melodeath (As I lay Dying, August Burns Red, Becoming the Archetype, Demon Hunter, etc...).

Blind Guardian - And then there was silence

Hope you've got fifteen minutes for symphonic power/speed metal when you click the link
Don't try to put that song on a CD if your commute to work is less than fifteen minutes, or you'll never hear anything other than the same song.

I love that song. So epic. That song and just about everything off of Nightfall in Middle Earth is my favorite work from them. I remember listening to that album when i was like 10 in my Dad's 82 Z28.

I'm suprised METAL isn't a tag on the thread, since it's been said so many times.

It should be, F bodies and metal go together perfectly. I cannot imagine a more perfect anti-hero car than an F body Camaro or Firebird blasting metal.
Anyway, more metal

Definitely something to blast in traffic
Or maybe something I've been listening too since I was about twelve, essentially THE band that got me into metal.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
I perfer Tripple Corpse Hammer Blow (What does that even mean anyway? Awesome is for sure). Rare European Progressive Powermetal bands like Blind Guardian, Rhapsody, and Labyrinth got me into metal. Then In Flames, Shadowsfall, and Children of Bodom fallowed. My dad was a huge metal head so I just raided his truck for cd's and downloaded them on my xbox.

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
I've just "discovered" King Diamond and Mercyful Fate. I'd be embarrassed as hell to play this for anyone, but once you get past the vocals it's some of the best metal ever. Man the vocals are cheesy....but I'm starting to really dig 'em, its part of the charm I guess.

How can you not love the outro solo!! Pure metal awesomeness!

Re: What kinda music are you listening to?
I grew up listening to old rock, that's what lead me to metal. As for triple corpse hammer blow, I haven't got a clue, something to do with getting hit with three corpses at once, which would suck either way
My father listened to a lot of old rock, since he grew up in the 60's, that's the kinda stuff he was into.
And yeah, early In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Children of bodom, those bands got me into metal, I've only recently gotten into progressive, power, and speed metal. I use to not like it, but, tastes change, as do the times.
Which, brings me to some music that got me through high school,
Soilwork - Song of the Damned
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twmLX...eature=related
Heh, didn't censor it.
Edit:
King Diamond's vocals reminds me of Ozzy put through several high pass filters

Fatal Portrate is def. My faveorite album by Merciful Fate. It's got Andy Laroke on Guitars. Also if you like power/speed metal, Check out HIBRIA, it's a Brazillian Speed/Powermetal band. Angra is the more well known band from there. They're pretty good too.

Here, Check em out. They've got one of the most amazing base players ever to walk this earth. Not just his skill, but the way he incorporates it into the songs.

I have heard of Demons and Wizards, they've got an album called Touched by the Crimson King, which is based around Stephen King's novel series The Dark Tower, something I've been meaning to read since high school.

An old nugget from Aldo Nova called Blood on the Bricks rocks darned good (most of the songs were co-written by Jon Bonjovi to provide an idea). There's enough of Nova's guitar pyrotechnics to make nearly everyone happy.
Not car material, but Sir Paul McCartney's Flaming Pie is superb.
Coming up: Lana Del Rey, Cults, and Sleigh Bells.

It's how he pronounces it, when spelling the E becomes silent, all in good fun
Anyways, back to topic
Lately I've been listening to Falling in Reverse, Mychildren Mybride, and a few other bands of the sort,
Still playing my classic rock and metal as well.
