12" subs fit?

I just made a sub box by following these directions in the pdf file and now im second guess that 12" subs are not gonna fit in the box. When i measure the the length and width of the top peice its only 12"x39.5". If i drill a 12" hole it will cut the top peice in have and drill into the side walls too. For 12" subs do you drill 11" holes? Is the hole smaller than the diameter of the speaker? Im really confused on this one. Please help!

I dont have any subs yet but im getting a good deal on 12" subs so i cant put anything else in there.

Re: 12" subs fit?

IIRC, you cut 11.5" holes for 12" subs..could be wrong tho

Re: 12" subs fit?

I would stay a little under 12 at first and then try fitment. Then if they dont, use a rouder and shave off some of the wall until they fit nice and snug

Re: 12" subs fit?

each sub has its own cut out size. they're all pretty close, but its best to get the specifications of your sub before you make the cuts to get the best fit

Re: 12" subs fit?

I'm pretty sure you don't want to cut a 12" hole for a 12" sub because then there is nothing to screw it onto. Not exactly sure about the proper size. Like dylanjessy said, just slowly shave it down until it's the perfect size.
