After making custom kick panels, how do you install it?

After making custom kick panels, how do you install it?
So I've been reading a lot about making custom fiberglass kick panels, and watching tons of Youtube videos. I feel pretty confident about it, and can't wait to do it when I have more time.
The only thing I'm wondering about is.. once everything is all done, and you painted or covered it.. How do you actually go about attaching it to the old kick panel? In all the custom fiberglass kick panel videos and projects I've seen, I don't see any screws showing, especially not in the painted ones. Would screws through the fiberglass and into the plastic even be strong enough to hold it? Or would you drill into the metal? If you do use screws, how do you go about hiding them?
I also have a completely unrelated question, just out of curiosity, in case I ever put a manual transmission in my car, or get a stick shift third gen. If you have the cardboard door panels, is it possible to add MDF/fiberglass speaker pods, or would you have to redo the whole door panel with MDF?

Id not mount a pod to the door panel, maybe bolt it to the door...

Take your original trim piece and make the pods with those so it will snap right in. I haven't had enough time to play with the door panels yet to give you any viable info on that.

Thanks. So the lower part where it fits into the step pad, and the upper part where it fits into the dash area, should be enough to hold it? I was thinking that would work. The screws in the kick panel don't really seem to do much anyway. My kick panels stay in place even without the screws, although a little loosely. I just wasn't sure if it would still hold in place with the weight of a speaker in there. But I guess the fiberglass is strong enough to hold the speaker.
