So...found my kids playing with a new sword...

And found out it was the remains of my power antenna!

They went and completely broke off my power antenna off the car right at the fender while I was inside the house. I was listening to the radio so the mast was up on the car when I had to go inside to talk to the wife for a minute. Well, now it makes a great sword thing.

So, does anyone know where I can get a replacement for my power antenna forr my 84 T/A?

How hard is it to put a solid antenna in place of the power version? $21.00 vs $200...

I took mine off a while back for what ever reason and lost it, found one on an s10 that looked the exact same, gm is good like that.

Wait did they rip off the screw dowl also? If they didn't it should screw right on so the 22$ would work just fine even if it was power version. I still can pick up about everything around here. However this whole power antenna thing sounds a bit pointless, all it does is boast your signal a tad bit but it's not like there's ever anything on the radio anyway.

If it's what i'm thinking you need it's the rod by the fender? http://www.ebay.com/itm/82-92-CAMARO...-/370839322392

And it should still work just fine as long as it has the rf signal and ground.

Just remove the inner fender and fish the wire through,it's a small project, but not hard to do.

They snapped the mast off right where it comes out of the Fender. Just bent it strait down and it snapped. I couldn't believe it.

I've got an '86 TA with power antenna I'm stripping. Not sure of condition but I can pull it out (if I can figure out how) and test it. $30 plus shipping if it works and looks ok?

LOL, I was thinking that mast would make a great switch as well as a sword. I remember walking all over the hood and roof of my moms car when I was young, that was back when it was ok to strap a kids @$$, and I got it.
$30 is a stellar deal for a working power antenna. Nice to see someone not gouging people for parts.

So much wrong with this post.

First off, the mast of a non-power antenna and power antenna are not interchangeable, not even close. The power antenna mast actually collapses on itself, since it's telescopic.

A power antenna ideally does not have any effect on the signal, it is not designed to boost the signal, nor attenuate it. A power antenna is simply retractable, by using an electric motor.

I'm glad. I hate to see servicable stuff go in the trash.
