Bi-amping subs??
Is it possible to run a single sub (SVC) off multiple amps? I was reading about an SPL car with 16 Crossfire amps pushing 4 15's. I've never seen a quad-voice coil sub, so can you hook up more than one amp to each VC? Or, if you have 2 SVC subs and a 2-ch amp, can you wire the subs in parallel to drop the impedence down to 2 Ohm, then hook up both channels to the subs so that each channel sees 2 Ohms?
I have 2 MTX 8000 15s (4 Ohm) and a RF Punch 800.2. Are there any alternatives to either wiring them in 4 Ohm stereo (200WRMSx2@12V), or 8 Ohm mono (400WRMSx1@12V)? The amp is good for 400WRMSx2@2 Ohms, and I'd like to start getting some real power out of it. Thanks!

There are some new 4 coil subs making their way to the SPL scene. But, some mono amps are designed to be bridged with another mono amp. The old Rockfords used to be capable of it, and I imagine their new ones still are.

If you only have one amp, all you do is jump one speaker to the other, + to + and - to -, and take that lead to the amp, wire them to the terminals that say bridged, one + and one -. And also you never want to run one amp to one voice and another to the other voice coil of a DVC sub, the power going to each will never be the same. Instead you series the voice coils and take to one lead.

trying to draw the wiring diagrahm in my head.....hear goes:
idealy you will have two mono block amps...we'll take my 2 former DEI amps....on each amp you have a fade ranging from 0-180..on the lead in amp you will set it to 0 and on the second amp on 180....depending on the amp you can link the rca'S from amp to amp or split the rca's before they wire into the amp..
As far as wiring the sub:
take the positive off the lead in amp and go to the positive of the sub..take the negative and go to the negative on the second amp...then run the negative off the second amp to the negative of the sub...the positive of the second amp wont be used at all..
you just gotta make sure your buying a sub with the correct ohms to get the most outta your two amps otherwise save your money and buy one amp..
the rockford amps jim mentioned did it different if i remember correctly....just dont remember off the top of my head how...but the dei amps are fairly new and i imagine other amps like it work the same...
I wouldnt get into wire non mono-block amps up to one sub..you get into firing problems with the voice coils and will very soon have no sub left...
