Popping noises

I recently purchased an '87 z28. It came with a Sony cd player. There is a loud popping noise whenever I change disc tracks, eject a cd, change the radio stations, turn the volume all the way down, turn on or off the headlights and occasionally when I brake. The guy I purchased the car from told me that it had something to do with the Bose speakers that are on the car. Something about each speaker having it's own amplifier. The speakers sound great, so I'd hate to trash them. Could it be a grounding problem? The previous owner told me that the Sony deck was installed at the store that he purchased it. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't know anything about the bose speakers and wether they are amped or not but if I were you I would yank that deck and douuble check all the wiring. There is something not right back there. If you pull the deck and shoot me an email to mikejdm@hotmail.com or post it here as to where each wire is going I'd be glad to help you trouble shoot. Only other thing I've had cause a pop like that in my car is a speaker wire that is shorting out. Maybe someone else can tell us more about the bose setup and give some better ideas.

the popping noise is caused by the BOSE system. each speaker has it's own individual amp. the only way to get rid of the popping is to rewire the car and bypass the amps (which are directly mounted to each speaker). but then you'll lose the great sound. best idea is to deal with the popping, or spen d $$$$ on high quality speakers and rewire to them to get the same sound
