TPI->Carb..need help choosing parts..

Alright I've got an 87 IROC-Z28 350 TPI with just over 57k original miles..I plan on switching over to carb within the next couple of months. I was wondering what exactly do I need to change to make this happen? I'm guessing so far that i'd need a carb(obviously),intake,fuel pump,cam and a new distributor...Is there anything I'm missing? Also what parts should i go with for the cam? intake? distributor? I'm planning on using a holley 750cfm HP series carb and was leaning towards a victor jr intake but i'm not sure if a victor jr will work with my stock heads.I heard from someone that it wouldn't.Any and all info is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Im not sure about the heads (TPI) but I think there should be no probles other than elongating two bolts. (instructions included with all new manifolds) I would reccomend a wieand stealth over a victor jr. You will need a distributor, a pressure regulator would allow you to run your stock fuel pump with a carb. You do not need a cam, but why not througth one in for good measure.
Im sure Jester will come along and push that 750 on you so good luck!

Other than that, the HP series are good carbs, but I'd stay away from a Vic. Jr. They're notorious for bad distribution problems.

Also, get a new fuel pump. You can theoratically reg down the stocker, but it's not worth it. The stocker not only sucks to begin with, but they always fail before too long for some reason it seems.

If you're the kinda guy that wants a 750 HP series..and a largish single plain...I think you'll definatly wanna upgrade the cam I say do it all at the same time and stick a good mechanical pump on it.

If you're running 13.8's w/o nitrous, then a 750 should be a good carb for you.

Unless you want to put a hole in your hood, you probably don't want to go with a Victor jr. Also, I thought modifying an 86 down manifold to work on 87 up heads wasn't worth the effort. There are some decent 87+ manifolds available.

Jester: are you sure that his cam would have the lump on it to drive a manual pump? I didn't think these cams did. Also, My AC lines run right over where the manual fuel pump would be, not sure about other cars.

I think theirs some uneducated opinions on here about the victor jr not being a good choice. Victor jr is the obvious choice if you had a healthy cam and set of heads.

With your mild setup a performer rpm air-gap would be the way to go for great power

Ahhh, NO!
Been there done that, tryed it twice. Ive ran about every manifold imaginable and the victor jr isnt even in the top 10.
Dont get me wrong it is a good track manifold when used with good flowing heads but with a street strip car it isnt going to fly as high as the stealh.

x5finger if i run faster than 13.8 with my 305 does that mean i need a 750 carb or more?

i'm using a rpm intake that i just ported. i don't want to have a hole in the hood by i may get a cowl hood or something.

hey everyone..thanks for all the opinions so far. As far as the victor jr goes I don't think I'm going to end up using that and probably go with a weiand intake. I plan on getting heads however a few months or so after the carb swap and new cam are in. I look forward to hearing more ideas and comments. thanks

I have not used the Vic Jr., so I can't comment on the performance, but I am pretty sure it is to big for a stock hood. That alone would make me not want it. I am using the RPM intake. The engine is running great with it. Well, not right now, it's sleeping for the winter!!
