Question about intake height and overcarbureting
In general, are you able to get away with a larger carb with a taller intake or with a shorter intake. Example: I have a Holley 750 VS which I will run on a 355 with a fairly low duration (214/224) cam. I realize that this carb is pushing the limits as to how large a carb I should use. I also currently have a Holley Street Dominator dual plane. Will this carb run better on this intake or on a shorter dual plane? Do I run a greater risk of bogging down with a shorter intake? Will the fuel atomize better with a taller intake. I got the carb really cheap and I traded a bottle of whiskey for the intake, so if I can make what I already have work, then I would like to, but if you guys don't think it's feasible, I'd like to hear why. Oh, yeah, I'm also not sure about what kind of hood clearance issues I'll have with this set-up, so I may not have a choice as far as intake size goes. Like to hear your opinions/ideas as to how intake height affects overcarburetion. Thanks.

Your carb is not too big.
Vaccuum secondary carb are very versitile, they size themselves
to the motor they are on.
The Holley street dominator highrise intake pn# 300-36 is one of the highest available. Search my posts for the proper air cleaner Keyword : L-88 This is the lowest aircleaner assembly
available and should fit with that intake and a holley under your
stock F-body hood.

That carb isn't too big.
but, to answer your question. The less plenum volume(shorter) an intake has, the larger a carb it can get away with. See the Choosing the proper carb article linked in the sticky for a more in depth explanation of why.
