new carb???
if i were to get a new holley carb, how would the wiring harness hook up. are the plugs the same? also, what aftermarket intakes have an egr and are smog legal? is there any problems i would run into changing the cc qjet out?
im going to be rebuilding my engine and want to shoot for 300 horses but be very street able for a college and get decent gas milage.
BTW: I KNOW A CARB AND GAS MILAGE DONT EXIST. but would it be possible to get about 15 mpg around town assuming i have a light foot?

it will not be an easy refit, you have to remember that all the systems on a computer controlled car are linked together, if one of them is removed then none of them work right.
if you pull the computer carb then you will have to install a non computer dist. and if your running a 700R4 tranny you will have to come up with a way of locking up the converter.
you can get just about any make of intake with the egr setup, I would recommend the edlebrock RPM with the egr setup.
by the way, I'm running the computer carb on my 86 305 and I get about 16 in the city and 25 on the highway.

so holley or edelbrock do not make a computer controlled setup?? im going to do some reseach over the winter, but i wanted to see what people around here say.
i thought that there was no such thing as a NEW cc qjet because gm stopped making carbs.

to my knowledge no body makes a computer carbs anymore, you can still find the cc-quads that have been re-manufactured but I don't think anybody sells NEW ones, you can still use the new intake with the quad, just be sure you get an intake thats good for either square bore and spreadbore carbs, that way if you change carbs later the manifold will work with either.
if I recall, the Quads are good for somewhere around 800 CFM and when modded properly and tuned can run as good as alot of other carbs.
