idle speed
i have 4bb carb with ele. choke on a 84trans am its a q-jet carb i want 2 know how do i set the idle speed? p.s. when the car is in park the rpm is approx3,000 when i put it in drive its at approx 1,500rpm can any one help me?

Engine: 305 Lo3
Transmission: 700-R4
On the right front corner (drivers side) there is a throttle stop screw that the throttle arm rests on when the engine is ideling. Back the screw out (counter clockwise) and your idle should drop.
