new demon carbs: anyone use em?

i noticed that summit's got the new demon carbs. they are the more streetable and less expensive like. looks like a suped up 4160 setup. anyone use these things yet? the price on them is very nice (625 or 725 for under $300). i've got a tired old 600 cfm 4160 on my car now. i do need to keep gas milage, so i cant go with anything too crazy, but the motor is a 400, so it also may need something big (one reason why i'm looking at the 725). lemme know what you guys think

oh, and if a few more specs would help with recommendations:
sbc 400
crappy stock heads
summit cam, 214/224
full exhaust
performer intake (may change soon)
th350

about everything i can think of. thanks

I have a speed demon and am more than pleased with it. I have heard nothing but good things about their carbs as well.

but im not sure how much of a "performance" carb the road demon jr is.

I had a Road Demon 625 (not the jr. model) on my 305. It worked really well, and looked awfully snazzy. I'd recommend one.

To be under $300, it has to be a Jr. model.

I can't imagine spending almost $300 that you're going to have to re-spend when you take care of heads, cam, and intake.

refering to me? why would i need to buy a new carb if i change that setup? the most i'd be doing heads/intake wise would some vortecs and a performer rpm (or similar intake). i do admit the 882s are crap, but i'm still much better off than my dead LO3. the cam's probably gonna stay cause i'm not going too overboard with the motor (it is a daily driver and it does have to make a 200+ mile round trip monthly). wouldnt the 725 feed it fine, both now and later? or am i missing something?

i'm not trying to sound hostile, just trying to understand a bit better (cause after all, i am asking for help/advice/hints)

I'm a Demon carb owner and am pretty happy with it but I don't think I'll be buying anymore BG products mainly due to their crappy quality control and horrible customer service. It seems to be hit or miss with these guys nowadays and I dont think $300+ is worth risking. Some of my friends, including myself, have great functioning Demons, others get them and straight from the box they leak, have all kinds of major issues, and NEVER run right. Same with BG fuel pumps - Everyone I know who runs one it breaks less than a month later then BG trys charging you $200 to rebuild it when all they do is replace a seal that cost $0.00000001.

So even though I'm perfectly happy with my Demon I cannot recommend one. I'd strongly suggest you purchase a tried and true Holley ...Its very hard to go wrong with one.

...Just my 3 cents

If fuel economy is a concern but you'd like to maintain performance capability, the good ol' q-jet is still king. If you want new, the Edelbrock 1906 or 1910 should fit the bill.

The Jr is a low-end carb. I read into your original post that you would consider upgrades for performance in the future. The lowest level Demon I would consider (personally) would be a Speed Demon. If you don't "need" a Speed Demon, then you don't need a Demon (IMO).
