choke on 650DP on my zz4?
Hi everybody I am new here.My brother is an old member of the third gen board and told me that you guys could help me troubleshoot. I have a 87ss monte with a zz4.I had a 650DP on it and I just put a new one on and everything runs great but when I floor it under load after I let off the gas the choke is killing the motor.I did not have this problem on the last 650DP.Last time I did not have a choke line and it worked fine. To be honest my brother is working on the car. He has a vette now. So he told me to ask you guys because he is just as confused as I am.The motor just stalls. He says that nothing is wrong with the choke.Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

Electric choke or manual? Does it do this hot or cold? Both? Is the choke flap actually closing when you let off the throttle? Are you driving with a manual trans or an auto? Does the carb have a dashpot on it (if using an auto trans)?

I just called holley tech and they said that there must have been something on the old carb that was keeping the choke from closing. There was. A piece of small wire. I just over looked it.They said if I dont have a manual choke line that every time I floor it the motor will stall when I let off and that is why the guy who put the old carb on did it. They told me that or just remove the choke. I did not put the other carb on back when I first got the motor. My brother told me that he knew it was something simple that he overlooked. It works great now. Shows you how much I know!!!!!!!!All I can do is put a new starter or altenator in.Just a simple lack of knowledge. Thanks
