Is Mixture Control Solenoid SEAL Available???

I'm looking for a replacement rubber seal that goes on the bottom of the Mixture Control Solenoid. Mine is shot but my solenoid is otherwise perfectly OK.

Appreciate any suggestions on where I might source one of these rubber seals. I'm toying with the idea of stacking some rubber o-rings or maybe something out of a plumbing/faucet application. Local major parts stores (AZone, NAPA, etc.) don't offer the seal.

Mine happens to be off an '84 2.8L V6 VaraJet E2SE carb.

You can see the black rubber seals on the end in the images below...

Re: Is Mixture Control Solenoid SEAL Available???

It comes in any cheap rebuild kit for a computer controlled QJet. You'll be needing the airhorn gasket from that kit, too since you have to yank the airhorn to get at the MC solenoid/gasket.

It slides over top of the blue "plug tower" before you put the airhorn casting back on. Nothing goes underneath the MC solenoid- just one screw to hold it in place inside the main casting.

Re: Is Mixture Control Solenoid SEAL Available???

My rebuild kit (carb part # specific: 17084362) did not include it nor did one other kit I looked at.

Actually, unlike the QJet version, my MC solenoid is held on by 3 Torx screws (this can be easily seen in the picture I linked to above) as opposed to one and simply attaches at the top of the airhorn/cover. It's trivial to remove/install the MC solenoid w/o removing the air horn etc. So no airhorn gasket is needed (though I have one from my kit).

Nor do I think the QJet version of the seal will fit but I'll look into it. If it is a perfect fit I might consider springing for the QJet kit to see if it will fit my MC solenoid.

Otherwise I'm toying w/ the idea of making one out of a plumbing/faucet washer.

Thanks

Sorry, I had my brain set to Qjet, not VaraJet. No idea on that one.

I stacked some o-rings on the spacer - we'll give that a shot - got to be better than what was on there which was worn down and torn in several places... we'll see...
