I'm an idiot, Help?

Just as it says. I'm an idiot!

I got an Edelbrock Intake manifold on line for $157.00. Without actually doing any research I port and polished it. After doing some reading (after the fact) (see dumb a$$) I read where you want to have the intake runners rough so that the A/F mixture stays as a gas. Apparently what I did was made it possible for the fuel to fall out of the air mixture to hit the manifold bottom as a liquid and will cause the engine to not run for squat.
Does anybody know how or if I can fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: I'm an idiot, Help?

You can rough it back up using a coarse grit sandpaper. It is best to have the 'roughness' run perpendicular to the airflow.

Well here is what I did with a dremel tool. Is this good enough or did I screw it up again?

Thanks,

Re: I'm an idiot, Help?

IMHO you screwed it up worse the second time around... Put an 80 grit sand paper roll on and give the entire port a once over leaving a uniformed 80 grit finish.

I'm installing that sucker today, so I'm going to go over them again with an 80 grit sand paper wheel from my kit and after cleaning the bejesus out of it putting it on.

Thanks for your input N.R.

Re: I'm an idiot, Help?

No prob man. I hate that your having to do extra work, but I guess live and learn right.

The lines/ridges you put in the ports will act like speed bumps for the air/fuel in a way. It's best to have a smooth uniformed port, but at the correct finish. 80 grit finish has always been the recommend intake runner port finish.

Same for heads if you ever try your hand at head porting. Keep the intake track at an 80 grit finish...

Now exhaust side and chambers... That's a diff story. Polishes those suckers until you can see your self in them lol

Well, after all of that, I don't really notice much of a difference. I'm going to data log and see about changing some VE numbers if required now.

Thanks again for the advice fella's.

The Edelbrock TBI Performer intake is a stock replacement. No gains should be expected...
