No Fuel in... floats?

No Fuel in... floats?
I worked on my 350 with an edlebrock 1406 and when I tried to start it today there is no fuel.
If i pour gas down the primarys it starts fine. If i pump the throttle gas fumes escape. If i dissconnect the gas line it pumps fuel all over.
I dont have a fuel pressure regulator, is it possibly I blew the floats up?

Blow the floats up? I've never heard of that, as the fuel pressure doesn't actually act on the floats themselves, and the typical float failure mode is to flood the carb.
Need more details about your car - year, original induction/fuel system, current fuel system, etc.

I heard that if you ran an electric fuel pump without a FPR you can ruin floats or something.
Its an 87 v6-> 350 swap. Was electric in-tank pump, replaced with mechanical pump. It gets gasoline up through the line, just not into the carb.

Did you take out the in-tank electric pump?
What line do you mean it gets gas up to?

Re: No Fuel in... floats?
Sucked on the gas line to bring fuel up to the carb and now it ran enough to suck some gas into the floats I guess? SImple fixes are best sometimes.
UNFORTUNATLY, I just picked up a 79 with a 383 for 1700 flippin bucks. I guess its time to say goodbye to the third gen.

bowls/motor.
The regulator is required to limit the pressure to about 6 PSI for Edelbrocks,
and 7-8 PSI for Holley carbs. There is a needle/seat valve which prevents
additonal fuel from filling the bowl when the float height is reached.
You shuoldn't be sucking on the line to get fuel, the pump will push the
fuel into the carb. You have a dead pump, or severe block in the supply
line (filter? no power?).
