anybody deal with "the carb shop" in california

I'm going to be having a blow through carb done for my build and I've talked to 4 companies now cns, csu, pro systems and the carbs shop. cns was just flat out rude and acted like they could care less about my business, pro-systems never got back with me. csu was very nice and helpful and price was about $530 and the carb shop was the same, very nice and helpful but they were $450 to have it done and they said they put the carb on a dyno and run boost through it to make sure its all done right. I'm leaning toward them for my carb. but iv heard a ton about csu as well. just asking if anyone has dealt with either of these two and how your experience was.

thanks
brian

Re: anybody deal with "the carb shop" in california

Check out TheTurboForums. Lots of blow-through guys over there. C&S and CSU seem to be the carbs of choice for best bolt-on results out of the box without a lot of tweaking. The Carb Shop (if it's the one in Ontario, California) is a good shop- Brad Urban's old shop. I used to buy a bunch of QJet stuff from them and liked dealing with them. Don't know how advanced they are with blow-through applications, though.

It's about the magic of making the power valves open only under boost (so you don't go pig-rich when you first nail it but no boost is present). Different methods, but C&S and CSU reference boost through the carb stud, I believe- way up high in the boost hat. Other methods can be less effective from what I'm told.

On the cheap, start with a regular old 4150-style double pumper and do the "Hangar 13" mods to it yourself. I have one such converted carb on a buddy's blow-through Turbo Chevelle and it works well.

Re: anybody deal with "the carb shop" in california

damen thanks for the input. iv been on the turbo forum a ton the last few weeks reading up on turbo stuff to get ready for my build. the three companies you mentioned are the top names coming up for recommendations. I'm planning on a pretty built set up so i think I'll a pro do it I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the carb shop. they were the nicest to talk to and he had no problem talking on the phone and telling me what its all about. csu was pretty nice to. c&s.... rude and didn't care for my business.

thanks again for chiming in. good he hear your experience with the carb shop was good.
