Re: edelbrock ?

I wouldnt run a edelbroke on anything. Holley all the way. Sounds like it could be getting to much fuel at WOT. How many miles are on it?

Re: edelbrock ?

ive never had good luck with holley. the engine has 120000 miles and the carb is about 2 yrs old but it sat most of that time.

Re: edelbrock ?

I have no idea about edelbrocks, I only mess with Holleys. But that's an acceleration enrichment (by EFI jargon) or pump shot (holley jargon) issue. You're either getting too much or too little fuel when you stomp on it, and that's easily one of the hardest things to get right in a motor. You are just gonna have to tweak it and see what helps. I just dont know how to do that on edelbrocks.

One thing you might try is to disconnect the secondary opening link and see if the problem goes away. If it does, then you've got a problem with the secondaries only, and you can concentrate on looking for the problem there.

Since the car mostly sits around, you may just want to go ahead and put a rebuild kit in it, giving it a thorough cleaning soak in the process.

Re: edelbrock ?

If it is a problem with the secondary tuning, then there's not much you can do about it easily on an Edelbrock.

You can see my posting about Stock 305 lunging problem. I called EdelBrock this morning and man am I impressed with their customer support. I spoke with a carb tech with a problem similar to yours mine just would lunge at constant RPM. They went out of their way to explain what was going on and how to fix it. They recommended changing out the metering rods and springs with a set more suited to my set up. Give them a call at 310 781-2222 and spend a little time on hold waiting for a tech. They are mucho helpful and VERY familiar with their products. It sure was not like calling for support on a computer. These people spoke English and everything!
Good Form Edelbrock GOOD FORM!
