Holley Base Plate missing slot
I cracked the base plate on my Holley 80457 (4160) carb and bought a used one on ebay. The one from ebay is missing transfer slots in the primary bores. (see pictures). Is this going to be a problem.
Everything else about the plates is identical including the part numbers stamped on them.

Re: Holley Base Plate missing slot
Yes that will be a problem. It has no chance whatsoever of running right without them.
If the slots are totally absent, then you just discovered why it was on ebay instead of on a car.

Can you use a very fine cutting wheel to cut them yourself?

Funny thing is this is a used part and shows evidence of having quite a few miles on it. There is varnish and residue in the bores.
I'm just going to return it I guess.

Good choice. That just ain't going to work.
I'm trying to think of an application that wouldn't need transfer slots like boats or agricultural applications..... and I can't think of one. I think that's just a actory defect. In any case it's not going to work in a car.
