Fuel tnak pickup/sending unit for tpi to carb swap
Hey guys, I'm ditching my 350 TPI for a 383 carb setup. Anyone have any suggestions as to what sending unit/pickup I sould use to replace the stock in tank pump in my car? Would the ones used for the 305 4brl engines work? All the tanks were the same from 82-92 right? I read lots of posts and tech articels on the swap, but no one specifically mentions the fuel pickup. I do not want to go with the Mallory 3-port regulator. I am wanting to have in external fuel pump and ~5psi regulated pressure. Anyone got any ideas or part numbers?

"...all the same" is probably a little too general. But, for what it's worth, I'm using what come in my '82 V6 from the factory. It was 3/8", same as the V8 donor car.
I haven't heard any different but that all tanks have the same pick-up/gage sending unit mounting flange, and all are the same depth. So, as long as the car didn't have EFI, it "should" be what you're looking for.
I'm not sure about 4-cyl cars, though. I think you also want to remove the in-line fuel filter so the mechanical pump doesn't have to suck the fuel through it (pumps prefer pushing).
What are your plans for the TPI and removed fuel pump?
