convert door weatherstrip replacement

I need to replace the door weatherstripping on my 92 convert - some time ago I read a post that said the regular weatherstrip needed to be trimmed to fit a convert door, but it did not explain how it needed to be trimmed - anyone able to enlighten me?

Re: convert door weatherstrip replacement

The Door weatherstrip should be the same for ALL 3rd Gens.. To the best of my knowledge all 3rd gens from 1982-1992 used the same door sheet metal, the differences were holes for the GFX...

There are some differences in the door innards however, mostly with the Triangular black pieces changed at least one time, and the window tracks are slightly different, but the basic shell is the same for all third gens... Therefore the Door seal should be the same.

The Windshield weatherstrip is obviously different. Not sure if that is what your referring to.

Re: convert door weatherstrip replacement

Thanks for the reply - that is what I thought but as I said awhile ago I read a post on here (that of course I cannot find now) talking about the differences between the verts and coupes and saying that the door seals needed to be trimmed (not the window or windshield posts). Anyway, my new ones look the same as what is left of the old ones on my doors but thought I would ask to see if anyone knew.
