Water pump leaking, can it be plugged???
This morning when I got home, I noticed coolant pooling up around the tire. I looked under the hood, and there's coolant dripping from the bottom of the water pump. I was wondering if I could add Prestone stop leak to the radiator to fix things up, or am I going to have to just replace the pump when it gets to this point ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I believe the water pumps on our cars consist of the pump and the associated gasket. Either one can cause leaks - and neither can be fixed with the stop-leak stuff. Correct me if I'm wrong - but the stop leak is for sealing small cracks in an alluminum radiator - not sealing leaks in gasket material.
Hope it helps 'ya.

There's actually a "weep hole" in the water pump that allows it to start leaking slowly when the bearings are worn enough to allow coolant past. The idea is to give you some warning before a catastrophic failure.

Could be your water pump going. When mine went it went bad. I just happened to have coolant with me and was close to my mechanic.
So I drove there monitoring my temp levels. Got there and he replaced the pump with some napa replacement.
