limp mode= bad ecm or chip

hey guys i was driving my 91 z28 tpi with the 730 ecm today and i think it went into limp mode on me, it would not idle right and when i tried to go the rmps would jump all over the place and go no where, if i let it idle i was fine, lucky i was only a few blocks from home, i checked the chip, i took out the burnt one and replaced it with the stock one but same, when key is on/car not running at least one of the cooling fans stays on, when i reset the ecm/ removing the fuse or power to the car it will run fine untill it seams like it enters the loop mode then everything goes to **** again, i have read and read again, lol 12 pages on this site about limp mode and i think its the ecm itself, if anyone has any info to help me that would be great, thanx

ok thats what i was thinking myself too, i tired to pull out the ecm fuse and reset the ecm like that, easier then the battery, anyways after installing the fuse again with the code reader on the aldl it will do the 3 flashes of 12 but then after its done that the ses just stays on, this is right after i put the fuse back in and never try to start the car at all just tring to read the codes, so i think shes gone south on me, hope i figured it out lol i will have to get a new one and try thanx
