Bad Prom?

I am not able to get a scan tool to connect with the ecm. I have used Datamaster and been to a friends shop and used his Snap-On scanner but every time it just says no ecm data. I did take it to him about two years ago and was able to scan the ecm then but I have recently built a new motor and would like to get a custom tune done but I can't see what the ecm is doing. I have gone through and checked all my grounds and ohmed all the wires from the ecm connector to aldl connector and everything checks out as far as connections go. The chip is a ADS Super Chip and I was wondering if it could be my problem. I'm able to jumper the ALDL connetor and it will flash a code 12. I have unpluged the TPS to see if it would store codes and it did. I just don't know if I should replace the ecm or try to get a new memcal. Any suggestions and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Bad Prom?

Your cable "could" connect to either pin E or M in the ALDL connector.
Some cables have both tied together and some only have one.
That's the only thing that comes to mind why it wouldn't work.
Move the wire in the ALDL connector or fix up the cable if you need to.

Re: Bad Prom?

I have one cable that I had made to use with the Datamaster software and the software sees it but no ecm. The end of the cable is off so I can place the pins in any spot on the aldl.

Re: Bad Prom?

I'm having the same problem. You could have a bad output from the PCM.
