Quick AE Tuning Questions
I've read a ton of posts about AE and I have a few questions.
On a 0-100% jump on the throttle, how good can you get your graph (EBL users). Can you get it to go directly to your desired AFR, or is there still a spike (up or down).
I want to start by tuning the AE on my full throttle romps, then figure out how to fill in the rest. Does this sound like the best way to tune, or not?
On these 0-100% runs, which table(s) would be the best to start with?

I usually get the driveability and tip in AE done first. Otherwise you'll end up re-doing the throttle stomps when the part throttle AE stuff is changed.

I did all the drive, cruise and tip in first. Pretty much the low dtps, and low dmap areas. This way when you do a fast throttle stomp, you have to just add in the upper dtps and map to make up for the lean spot, or take out if it is rich. Another thing I did was a lot of higher rpm drive/tip in/cruise ae logging. 2200 rpm and up. I am not using rpm multipliers up there, as the dtps and dmap tables are enough to give it the required AE, but from 2200 and down I use the multipliers. IOW, If I tune the tip in AE at 1000 rpm by the dtps/dmap tables, it would be all screwed up at higher rpms. so I did the higher rmps first, then adjusted the multipliers accordingly. I have a great deal in the 2000 rpm area, Maybe just because of the inheated high rise manifold I am using.
I also waited to do all my AE adjustments till the engine was at operating temp. Then when it is close in most areas, I go for the cold AE tuning.
I must say my AE isn't "perfect" yet, but if I had a stock type intake that was heated I'm positive I would have been dead on a long time ago.
O, a WBo2 helps TREMENDOUSLY!

yes, I used the ebl with my WB hooked up through it. It was WAYYYY easier to log a run, look at the dump file, and adjust the AE tables. It's a bit more difficult to adjust the AE through other types of datalogs IMO, the EBL dump file gives you a brakedown by the second, in tenths of seconds, so it is a invaluble tuning tool. RBob.
It can still be done without it, I saw in another post where RONNY said to lean out the AE till you get the lean pop, and build up from there. That's pretty much what i did, even with the wide band. There is no sense in dumping fuel when you don't need it all.

The EBL is the same system I am using. I have to work with the dump file though; never used it before.
