Real Noob Question - Cooling Fans

I thought I'd get me feet wet by just playing around with the cooling fan on/off temps.

Hardware/Software: Autoprom / TunerproRT
ECM 1227165
Memcal BCC: ACXW
Mask: $32B
XDF File Used: 32B.xdf

1987 IROC VIN F

I've read the binary directly off the memcal. The cooling fan on/off temps appear to be controlled by the parameters:

Fan Off Coolant Temp Threshold (A/C On)
Fan On Coolant Temp Threshold (A/C On)
Fan Off Coolant Temp Threshold (A/C Off)
Fan On Coolant Temp Threshold (A/C Off)

Questions:

1. Why are each of these parameters set to the same temperature of 135.50 C (275.90 F)?

2. Does "threshold" mean "fan turn on/off temperature" or something else?

I've attached a screen shot of the Tunerpro screen, FWIW.

My apologies for the stupid questions. And thanks for the feedback.

Re: Real Noob Question - Cooling Fans

There are a number of reasons for this. The PROM may not have been read correctly, the xdf file may be incorrect, the fan may not be ECM controlled, or that BIN is really $32 not $32B. Although the companion BIN ACXT is $32B and has the proper values for the fans. ACXT is the FED version of your CALI calibration.

I used the 32B.xdf from Craig's site.

By threshold, that is the turn on or off point.

RBob.

Re: Real Noob Question - Cooling Fans

Just to close the loop on this.

The PROM was not read correctly.

My error was in the setting up the Read/Write Utility in TunerproRT.

In the Supported Chips window, I chose the 27C128 chip but got an error message. So I went and chose the 27C256 chip and the Autoprom did read the Memcal.

Tonight, I tried to read the chip again and noticed that the Start and End Addresses in the Chip Addressing and Buffer Addressing fields did not match. Changing the Start and End addesses to 000000 and 003FFF in both the Chip Addressing and Buffer Addressing fields, and choosing the 27C128 chip in the Supported Chips window did the trick.

I'm now reading the Memcal with data that is meaningful.

Thanks to RBob for the hints.
