ECM swap question
A fellow who works next door to my house needs an ECM for his 86 Camaro, MPFI V6 auto. I have an un-needed ECM from an 86 Firebird, MPFI V6 5-speed. Just wondering if they are interchangeable enough to work; and what, if any side effects could be expected. Also what a reasonable price for it would be...
Thanks,
Pete

He'll probably need a different PROM, or use his old PROM for the automatic tranny with the TCC lockup. Also I believe the 85 and 85 ECMs are different in TPI cars, not so sure about the 2.8 V6's though.

Ported and polished heads, ported stock TPI base, ported plenum, Comp Cams XR270HR-10 cam (lift .495/.502 duration 218/224 lobe separation 110), Edelbrock TES headers, LT4 valve springs, Crane AFPR, Flowmaster catback with LT1 style tips, MSD coil & wires...
"Take that auto, drop it in first, hold the brakes, stomp the gas and grin from ear to ear! :-)

ECMs should be the same, with different PROMs. Call Auto Zone to verify that they are the same & to get a price for a new one.
