145mph speedo

Were there any mechanical speedo units that have the 145mph gauge? I don't want to take the time to install the electric speedo and all the vss stuff. I have the cable driven 85mph speedo now in my 85TA and want to change it out.

yes. An 86 IROC makes a good donor. I see them on e-bay all the time. They usually go from $100~$130 for the entire cluster. I happened to snag a cluster for $108 including shipping. It's an easy install.

Camaro instruments wont fit the Firebird dash. As far as I know, unless you convert to the electric speedo, you're out of luck.

I have the same question. I want to swap the 85mph mechanical unit in my 83 Firebird with a 140mph mechanical speedo cluster. I've been searching and can't find a definite answer about this. I've read posts that say that the V6's are different from the V8's and the idiot light clusters were mechanical but the guage clusters were electric... etc.

Someone has to know exactly which Firebird clusters (and which years) were electric and which were mechanical. Please inform us with your brilliance.

speedo

If anyone wants it, I have a 145 mph gauge cluster out of camaro. Only thing is it is in kilometers (240) so you will have to order white gauges which are $21. But if someone wants the cluster I will sell it for $40+ shipping or trade for some polyurethane parts!
