wire gauge is standard, doesn't matter on metric or domestic but if you must find a size try the net.

Yea, you should be able to find a conversion table on the net (search via Google).
Here is a table that I got from a GM publicaton. It should be accurate.
METRIC - AWG
0.22 = 24
0.35 = 22
0.5 = 20
0.8 = 18
1.0 = 16
2.0 = 14
3.0 = 12
5.0 = 10
8.0 = 8
13.0 = 6
19.0 = 4
32.0 = 2
50.0 = 1/0
EDIT:
Just doing a simple search on GOOGLE using "wire size conversion" gave me several links that should confirm what I posted above. Some of these links will give you more values (wire sizes) and more accurate information than I did.
Here are three:
http://www.churchsoundcheck.com/wiresize.html
http://www.lexproducts.com/wireconv.htm (pretty)
http://www.importautoparts.com/wiresize.html
