Where is the ignition switch in an 85 Camaro?

I cant find my manual and its killin me...

Welcome to the boards! Your ignition switch is in your steering column. It is where you put your key in. It has 6 contact points: Off, Lock, Accy, run, bulb test, and start.

So its in the section where you insert the key? not father down the column?

Now someone is tellin me that my car doesnt even have an ignition switch...

What else could keep my gauges from working or the car from doing anything when the key is turned?
the lights work and so does the interior light...but nothing happens when the key is turned...

Your (at least on my '91) ignition switch is located down the steering column. The ignition cylinder, of course, is where you put the key in. There is a long rod (GM calls this the actuator rod )connecting the cylinder to work this switch.

SO i have to tear the entire column out?

I still cant get passed the mid section..where the blinker switch and hazards are...i take the 3 bolts out then the one..remove all of that...and then there is nothin more i can do...

Nope, drop the kick panel, and toward the bottom of the column, up on "top" of it, you will find the switch. Keep in mind the dimmer switch is up there as well, so, don't grab the wrong one. It may just be a matter of adjusting the switch so the acutator pushes it in far enough.
