all Interior lights went kablooie!!!

I was headed up th the gas sation after dinner too get gass and before I got a block away from my house my interior lights all went out kinda like the black out new york recently had. At first I thought mabe I hit the dimmer **** so I adjusted it and nothing happened. So I went home and checked the fuses and one was blown(15a) So i put a 25a fuse in and pop, then a 30a and for about 5 seconds I had light and the pop and tyhe black out was back. Now a few months ago my plug for the 700r4 got ripped off somehow and now I have three wires touching.( i have a th3450 so I do not need the plug for overdrive( i guess tht is its use)) They kept touching and causing the fuse that powers my tach to blow. So I taped each wire up and then put tucked them away so they would not drag. After doing this my fuse on the tach was fine. I just checked the wires after my lights went out and one was exposed so I taped it back up and tucked it away , yet the fuse is still popping. Please help me!!!! Has anyone experienced something similar to this:??

Thanks Drew

Check your cig lighter. If faulty it can cause your fuse to blow. It's not a good idea to put a higher rated fuse in, it's there to protect the wires and electrical components on that circuit.

3gc, yeah usually I dont do that but I wanted to see if the fuse was old or if it was actually shorting out. The tail fuse blew. So I have no interior lights, parking lamps or taillights, or headlight chime( the noise that it makes when the car is off but the lights are still on). What could have caused this, blown bulb in tailight, or am I getting a short somewhere

Thanks Drew

okay problem solved, my passenger side marker lightkept flickering a few months ago, thought nothing of it except maybe a bulb or bad connection. Apparently what caused my lights to go was one of the wires to that side marker slid under the battery and the battery against the battery box cut the wire when it fell between them, and then the exposed wire shorted against the box/frame and that is why my lights all went off.

Thanks for all the help,Drew
