No speedo after wire removal

I just took out just about all my underhood wiring except for the alternator, starter, and lights. I got a little carried away with the hacking of wires and now my speedo doesn't work. All the other gauges and everything else in the car works just not the speedometer. I tried to follow the wires from the VSS to under the hood but I couldn't do it. My car is a former CCQjet car with a manual. What wires under the hood run to the VSS? I can't find it and I'm going crazy. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You need to re-attach the yellow and purple wires coming from the sending unit on the transmission.

I don't think that I disconnected the sending unit wires. I just took out the wires on the passenger side of the engine. I couldn't find a purple wire in the cluster. The wires going from the buffer to the sending unit don't seem to be in the wires i cut. They go towards the speedo after the buffer not to the hole in the inner fender to the cluster of wires.

They are (or were) in there, running up the trans tunnel with the wires to the reverse light switch on the trans.

Odds are if the speedo worked before you hacked out the wires and it doesnt now you removed the wiring for it. Just rewire the vss to the dash and call it a day. You could spend hours looking for wires that may or may not even be there.

The VSS wires are purple and yellow right? I think I got the purple one but I definately don't see any yellow wires. I can trace it out the fender and to where its cut. But the other half is nowhere to be found. I am so sick of this.

Start at the sending unit on the transmission, and work forward from there.
Maybe next time, you'll think twice before hacking out stuff.
