Car: 1992 Camaro Z28
Engine: 5.7 LT1
Transmission: 4L60
Axle/Gears: 3.23's
starting problems
I had recently been having sluggish starting , and sometimes not even crank , but wait a few minutes and would start . but I had a few months ago put in a new starter , and a friend of mine had said that possibly the ground from the batter might be the problem, where is this located? , if the problem is not the ground what else could it be ?

Transmission: 700R4
The starter is grounded to the engine itself. The battery is grounded to the engine block at the front lower right side of the engine block. What kind of starter are you using and what is the rating of the battery that you are using. Also is this happening when the engine is hot or when it is cold?

The starter was a the kind that would have come on the car stock , brand new from autozone , it was happening after it was hot , when cold I never have a problem , I changed the battery today , prob is better , but there its still not starting as fast as it should. The new battery is a Everstart Maxx , 690 cold cranking amps.

the fact that its happening when its hot, sounds like heat soak to me. im not sure of the specifics of it, but basically what happens is that the starter absorbs the heat coming off the engine and gets too hot and does not function as well as it should. if i recall correctly, there are some companies that make heat shields for our starters that can help correct the problem.

Thanks guys , I checked all of the grounds and cables and I found a bunch of them had aquired a bit of corrosion build-up , cleaned them up and it starts right up no problem now, as far as the heat soak problem , Iam going to look into the heat shield thing.
